Black Sunrise

The secret can now be revealed. Here is the trailer for my next film, Black Sunrise.

Black Sunrise - Trailer from Nick Cross on Vimeo.

What sets this film apart from all of my previous films is this one will be a FEATURE. That's right, I'm going to make the leap from the comfortable world of short films and enter the big-leagues. I've already storyboarded about 90% of the film and it's going to be big...It's going to be such a large project that it is going to be a challenge to complete at the same time as working on commercial projects to pay the bills. I am going to be trying to get funding for this film but I have also set up a fund-raising campaign at IndieGoGo, so please feel free to donate and help this mammoth undertaking happen.
In conjunction with the production of this film, I will also be producing a book to document the making of an animated film from start-to-finish. I think that this is something that many of you out there might be interested in, since the majority of the emails I get are questions related to this topic, and it seems like there aren't too many specific books on this subject out there.

Thanks everybody, more soon!

Wow guy! Looks like you've got quite a lot of scenes done already! What's your criteria for choosing which scenes to complete first?

Quite an undertaking, and just the person to do it! Good luck with the whole process. Hope the fundraising goes well, I wish I could throw in but I might need a fundraiser of my own just to feed myself soon.

Any predictions for a completion timeframe?

Wow... looking great! Have you seen "Dirty Duck"? Interesting because one guy (the director) animated it by himself in one year. Not a similar film at all, but might be inspiring.

ouuh im want to see this film soon, im an artistic student and i interested in your films at the first time i saw you woow, its a very reflexive conception of many ideas, and i will wait for a job exelently done in this time, i think waht this trailer is a promess jeje.

Holy motherfucking shit, Nick, this is the best animation related news I've heard in a LONG FUCKING TIME!

Good luck, I trust your talent to know this is going to be amazing. It astounds me how hard a worker you are!

Are you animating, painting, and drawing the whole thing yourself?

Thanks again everyone!

Looks like I missed a few questions...

@SACKS: I'm not sure when the compilation is coming out. I've kind of put it on the back-burner because I want to do it up as a nice quality and some of my older stuff needs to be re-mastered a bit which might take some time...hopefully I'll get around to it soon.
@David: Thanks for the offer, I may be soliciting some help on this thing in the near future...I'll keep you posted.
@Rubber Onion: I just tried to get a good cross-section of scenes to give an idea of the mood and atmosphere of the film without giving too much away...
@J C Roberts: The timeframe is the most nebulous part right now...I don't make schedules because that is a recipe for disaster...I just work away at it whenever I get a chance. Hopefully it won't take too long...
@Mad Max Winston: I haven't seen that film but I have heard of it. It is possible to make a feature in a short period of time, the problem is balancing speed with quality...
@Jorge Garrido: It looks like I will be doing most if not all of it myself. If I manage to reach my funding goal, I should be able to hire a few people to do some work on it...

Way to go Nick! Keep on keeping on. Truly an inspiration.

I love your stuff, Nick. But it would be sooo cool, if you could also portray us members of the weaker sex in a way less conventionally Hollywood. Here is an idea: imagine that half of your audience are actually female...

ncross said...

Hi Tro

I agree with you 100%...all i can say is that you will have to wait and see.

Cool. Can't wait!

Hey Nick,

Just discovered you not too long ago (last year) and I must say it's very inspirational to me, an animator in training, to see such high quality work coming from ONE GUY.

The trailer for this feature looks really really cool, I really want to see you pull it off man!

So good luck to you and I shall be very interested to see what comes of this.
