In other news, King of Magazines, has been accepted in the 2009 Holland Animation Festival. It will also be showing in the Ottawa Animation Festival next month. It will be playing in Short Competition 2 on Thursday, October 18th at 9:15pm.
Also, the pilot I co-created and directed is premiering at the Ottawa Animation Festival this year. It is showing on Thursday, October 18th at 11:30 pm, which is past my bedtime, but I'll make an exception in this case.
See you there!

YEAHHHHH! awesome. please please please give a tutorial of how you're doing your BG's. maybe next time yuo're doing a BG you could save the steps and show us online. really love your textures and stuff and would love to learn.
i'm assuming they're digital/traditional hybrid, and i realize that when i assume, i show you my ass... or something.
animation previews would be gnarly too : )
Your selling crack to an addicted neighborhood. Weird how relevant that is isn't it?
Whooooaaa, you did these BG's? Really great lighting and mood to them! Would love to see your process too. :D
Wow...beautiful backgrounds, Nick.
See you at the festival!
holy smokes, those backgrounds are beautiful!
oh mama! Grand... wonderous... whizz bangers... party poppers... jolly nice
Man oh man, these are beautiful! They remind me of Disney backgrounds in the 40s! The color and lighting are awesome! From a distance you don't even notice that is done digitally, how did you do this? I would love to see a step-by-step post of your way of making backgrounds! And combined with those wonderful layouts we've seen earlier...can't wait to see this film!
Thanks everybody!
I thought of doing a tutorial before, but I always forget to save my BG's in steps...
These are done completely digital in Photoshop..I tried to keep them as simple as possible and concentrate on the lighting...
But yeah, thanks again everybody!
Wow these are gorgeous Nick!
The lighting somehow reminds me of Bergman's films.
(Am I way off... again)
