New York City

Well, I'm back from my trip to New York and let me tell you, it was great!

We stayed in Chelsea near to all the galleries and since the purpose of this trip was not only for a brief vacation, but also so that I could get inspired by some great artwork.
The journey down was exceptionally terrible because of the huge windstorm on Friday. Our flight from Ottawa to Philadelphia was delayed for two hours and then our connecting flight to LaGuardia was cancelled. We ended up taking the bus to New York, which was an adventure unto itself. Anyway, we finally got there in tact and weary. After that, everything got fun again.
The first thing we did was to have a raw meal at Pure Food and Wine. We had wanted to go there ever since we bought the cookbook, and it was delicious! It makes me wish so much for a classy vegan (or even vegetarian) restaurant here in Ottawa, but I digress.

The next day we ate at Quintessence (see photo above)went to the Met, did some shopping at MooShoes and then went to the Jeff Soto opening at the Jonathan Levine Gallery. It was packed with people(not shown in photo) so it was hard to get a good look at the art, but it was still very impressive indeed.

Sunday started off with us eating breakfast at Blossom. Apparently we were sitting at Ethan Hawke's favorite table:
Next, we made our way up to the MoMA which is a museum I've always wanted to go to; that was really inspiring-so much art, I just wished I had more time to see all of it in detail but we found out that there was a once-in-a-lifetime Egon Shiele exhibition at the Neue Gallery. I'd never seen any of his art work in "real life" before so this was a real treat.
We topped off the day by having a great dinner at the classy Candle 79 and then met up with our friends at a comedy club in Chelsea.
Well, folks that's about it. We flew back on Monday, weary and with the feeling that we have to go back (or move there!). We love New York!
